I discovered Kristina on Instagram. I am always searching for talented stylists that stand out in this industry. I started to notice her back in December. Not only is her work incredible, but she is so consistent with her posts every single day, a few times a day. Every time I saw here balayage I though, OMG!  She really has something special. When it comes to placement and color choices for her guests, she really nails it every time. I decided to feature her because I knew she would be an inspiration for other stylists in the beauty industry. I will also be sitting in her chair tomorrow getting a haircut. Anyone that knows me, knows how hard it is for me to go and see a new stylist. Her work really pulled me in and I know I am in good hands. I will be sure to post my after pic tomorrow on Instagram. Check out her interview with Nina Tulio of 1N Agency. We both hope this will motivate you, inspire you , and encourage you, to share the love and keep your passion for the beauty industry.

  1.  What inspired you to work in the beauty industry?
I was 17 years old and offered a job to work as a receptionist. I was currently a client in the salon and loved how the environment made me feel. I worked at Captiva Salon while in high school, then went to Southern Connecticut State University. While in college, I fell in love with what the beauty industry had to offer. Therefore, I left college after one year and joined Paul Mitchell The School North Haven. I was with Captiva Salon for 9 years prior to becoming an independent artist at SALT.

    2. How long have you been in the industry?
I have been in the industry for 9 years, behind the chair for 6 years.

    3.  What is your specialty? I specialize in customizing hair color, specifically hand painting balayage.

    4. What makes you a stand out in this industry?
I stand out in the industry by giving an extraordinary experience to each and every guest. I constantly listen to what their needs are, and make suggestions that would work for their lifestyle.

    5. What advice can you give other stylists looking to be a success in this industry?
My best piece of advice is to always put the guest first. Always listen to what they need,  allowing them to feel most important.

   6. What is the best part of being a stylist?
The best part of being a stylist is building connections with clients. I truly enjoy and appreciate everyone that chooses to sit in my chair. At the end of the service, the smile on my guests face is truly rewarding.

   7.  How much time do you dedicate to education?
This industry is constantly evolving. I continuously educate myself by attending classes 1-2 times a month. Also, social media is a huge tool for education. There are talented artists on social media everyday willing to share their knowledge, allowing us to all grow together!

   8.  What are you most proud of?
My biggest accomplishment is establishing my clientele. I am grateful for every guest who has chosen me to be their hairstylist.

   9. Who is your inspiration?
I find inspiration everyday around me. From my family, my fellow artists, to all the talented artists on Instagram. Currently I am honored to be apart of the SALT family and am truly I inspired by the magic Jamie Sea creates.

   10. What is the biggest misconception of being a stylist?

The biggest misconception of being a hairstylist, is that you can't be successful. This industry is filled with opportunities, if you want to work for them.
